BASScare Faversham House Canterbury

by Tania Chanter

Returning client BASScare teamed up once again with the Bluethumb Trade Team to infuse warmth, vibrancy, and personality into their Faversham House aged care home in Canterbury, VIC. With 94 carefully selected artworks, including Tania Chanter’s piece Clouds of Hope and Awe, the installation demonstrates how thoughtful curation can transform residential spaces into environments that inspire, comfort, and connect.

After the success of their previous collaboration at Morgan Glen Iris, BASScare once again partnered with Bluethumb to curate and provide artwork for their Canterbury residential aged care home.

BASScare is a respected Melbourne-based organisation offering aged care and community services. Their design philosophy takes a long-term view, creating spaces that are both practical and uplifting.

The Faversham House upgrade set out to redefine the experience of an aged care home — creating an environment that is elegant, engaging, and encourages connection.

'The brief for this project was to introduce artwork you wouldn’t typically see in an aged care setting,' explains Edward. 'We aimed for pieces that spark conversation among residents, staff, and visitors, while also serving as wayfinding markers and location identifiers.'
